Most geopolitical coverage resets with the news cycle. A publication writes about a strait closure, a sanctions package, or a currency peg under strain, the story runs its course, and the next issue moves on to something else. The Exposure Register instead maintains a fixed board of 12 to 18 tracked exposures that persist issue over issue. An exposure earns a place on the board only if it clears a specific admission test: it must be able to plausibly reach both a company's money and its day-to-day operations — a dual-consequence standard, not a general newsworthiness standard.
Entries are organized by transmission mechanism rather than region or topic — the seven tracked mechanisms are physical chokepoints and logistics, energy and commodity supply, capital controls and sanctions, conflict and territorial escalation, regulatory and market access, currency and sovereign credit, and critical inputs and technology controls. Every entry carries a fixed ten-field schema: a stable Entry ID, its mechanism, its current state, its direction of change, the evidence supporting that state, dated triggers to watch, and a stated confidence level. State is reported on a five-point scale from 0 (Dormant) to 4 (Disrupted).
